New Patients Are Always Welcome!
As a family-focused practice, we welcome new patients of all ages. We look forward to getting to know you!
Your First Visit
So, you’ve reserved a time to come in for your first visit. Congrats! Now what!? Here are a few things to look forward to:
- Updating your x-rays – This is super important as x-rays allow us to see where our eyes can’t, such as in between your teeth (to check for cavities) and around the roots of your teeth (to check for tooth, gum or bone infections)
- A very thorough checkup
- A one-on-one consultation with Dr. Jonathan to discuss your concerns, goals, needs and treatment options
- An oral cancer screening
- A teeth cleaning – Please note, we cannot always guarantee a cleaning at your first visit. Whether or not a same-day cleaning can be accommodated will depend on timing, how long it has been since your last cleaning, and whether or not a routine cleaning is right for you. Rest assured, we understand that cleanings are one of the biggest reasons most patients go to the dentist. In the event that a same-day cleaning is not possible, we always do our best to get our patients right back in with as little wait as possible.
- Oral hygiene instructions
Do You Take My Insurance?
Many patients ask us – “do you take my insurance?” The short answer is – yes, we absolutely do! We are an unrestricted office, which means that any patient is welcome to see us regardless of their insurance. The biggest benefit to this is that the relationship between our patients and our providers is not dictated by a third party (insurance). Our patients are free to decide what they feel is best for their dental health regardless of whether or not their insurance tells them something is allowed/approved. For example, we have some patients who desire tooth-colored fillings but their insurance encourages them to have only silver fillings. In cases like these, because there are fewer restrictions for our patients, they are free to choose tooth-colored fillings if that is what they truly desire. Almost all of our patients have dental insurance through one carrier or another, and we are always happy to help them research their coverage, provide fee estimates and copay amounts prior to each visit, and submit claims as a courtesy to them. Every insurance plan is different and we would be happy to help look into yours to see what your coverage looks like. We have come across only a few plans that penalize patients for seeing an unrestricted provider. For all other patients, there is almost no difference in coverage. One other thing to keep in mind is that dental insurance, unlike medical insurance, acts more like a coupon. It will often help to reduce your treatment-related expenses, but rarely does it cover everything. For this reason, you may be asked to pay a copay (the estimated amount your insurance may not cover) for some visits. This is true for all dental offices, not just for unrestricted offices like ours.
